SJA was commissioned by Cairns Regional Council (CRC) to attend site on a monthly basis to review, record and report on construction progress as well as reviewing updated contract program proposals and extension of time claims received from the main contractor.
Design information provided by CRC was used in the monthly inspections conducted with a CRC staff member to gauge progress and these site inspections combined with the progressed contract program from the main contractor formed the basis of the tracking tools contained within the SJA monthly reports.
We were able to provide CRC with a monthly update on likely completion dates based on current progress. We also undertook a labour resourcing of the contractor’s program to indicate peak labour demands each month. Our report also confirmed the critical path, time risks, opportunities, and advised the Client on the case for entitlement to time for contractors’ extension of time claims.
Our independent assessment of program predicated the completion date well before practical completion, meaning the CRC had full awareness of the realistic time frame and could thereafter plan opening ceremonies and performances with confidence that the Performing Arts Centre would be ready.
